beyond layers week eleven - frame it
this week over at beyond layers we're learning several different methods to framing.
i played around with gradients to turn the fluffy white clouds gray to match the 'lonely tree'
than added kim's texture 'crackerjack'
i used the rec marquee tool method to frame it and changed the blend mode to lighten at 77%
just enough to show a hint of the photo.

beyond layers week 10 - colour week
over at beyond layers we're doing a colour a day this week.
oh my! the posting page is soooo awesome to scroll through - the colours are spectacular.
earlier this week i found a six pack of different coloured egg shaped chalk.
i love how the texture looks (and i'm still loving black/white and touch of colour) so i decided
to use the chalk eggs as my base theme for colour week.
here's my six (storyboard) days in one post...

week nine beyond layers - beautiful black and white
happy st. patricks's day to all of you. it's not green here - rain and snow mix, but i couldn't ask
for anything better... gave me time to play with the blk and wht conversion techniques.
this first photo i took today but the rest are from my stash. i went searching for high contrast
photos with either lines, texture, tones - something i thought would convert to blk and wht.
i found so many... after playing most of the afternoon, these turned out to be my favorites.
hope you enjoy the beautiful black and whites as much as i enjoyed spending time tweaking
and learning different techniques. all photos have kim klassen's texture from beyond layers "aurora"
and what a great texture this one is - thank you kim.

May your pockets be heavy
and your heart be light.
And may good luck pursue you
each morning and night.

had to give my tree photo another run through. not a lot of difference but
i like this one best. i really love how all the different size branches pop

this one i took last winter (when we actually had snow)
max has such great contract, tones and texture in his coat
it made this conversion fun to do
_____________________________________________________________
and i'll finish this post with a picture of one of my favorite flowers...
the peony - shot last spring in my garden

week nine beyond layers - black and white
picture i took looking up at the trees was so simple to turn to black and white.
i added a levels adjustment layer, moved both black and white sliders to
the middle, than added kim klassen texture 'lookup' soft light at 100%
text reads...
Wisely and slow.
They stumble that run fast.
