beyond layers week 47 - holiday sampler

i started off using the teastained texture kim provided and
wasn't happy with the way my holiday sampler was evolving.
so instead the alphabet part of kim's sample got me thinking
of a bookmark.  i used a paint splatter brush and added the
alphabet on top using a font called stencil brush.
ran it through rad labs a few times and came up with these
two bookmark samples.
i haven't tried this yet, but thinking they could be printed
on heavier weight paper... maybe glued on cardboard
and ribbon or tassel added to top...  so many possibilities
maybe little stocking suffers for the readers on my list.

beyond layers week 37 - inspiration

this weeks challenge was to find inspiration from the book cover 'Beautiful Disaster'
no photo inspiration came to mind so i started a layout in pse using the two textures kim
gave us.  kk_naturally (normal 100%) and kk_steelish (hardlight 80%)
from there i added the jar and than started using different shapes and brushes
moving, re-sizing and re-arranging them all.
i could have kept going and going, but finally decided to stop here...

than decided to try it on one of my home-made grape shots with some tweaking to fit my image.

seems i've been in a creative rut lately.  i haven't even picked up my camera for almost three weeks.
so to start again i went outside this morning and shot some pictures of the grass before the blades of the mower whipped them away...

ok, i cheated a little bit... i started off doing a color storyboard - honest, but than got this
idea to place several different mug shots of max instead.  i have so many pictures of him
with different expression it was hard to narrow it down to just six.  the background shot
was sooc... glad now that i didn't toast it.

i managed to get off a few shots by getting my camera focused on the spot i thought i could
throw the ball to.  not sure who was goofier looking - me or ali

this week kim offered us one of her photos to process any way we want.
i didn't use any textures only brushes and gradient map adjustments.
i finished off running it through radlabs.

the gradient adjustments.
